Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a very active form of therapy which goes beyond just talking about thoughts and feelings. The aim of ACT is to create a rich and fulfulling life at the same time as making space for the pain and discomfort that often goes with it. Many of us will experience difficult life events, whether that is through problems with our health, our relationships or loss. Individuals are not broken rather they are stuck. ACT addresses the main processes that can take us away from the life we want and the person we want to be. 

Through ACT you will be supported to:

  1. Learn skills to unhook yourself from difficult thoughts and feelings - learning how to reduce their impact and take away their power, so they can't push you around, hold you back or bring you down.
  2. Clarify you values - what matters to you, what you want your life to stand for and how you want to treat yourself and others. 
  3. Take action to solve your problems head on, face your challenges and do things that make life better.
