Support for Caregivers
A service for family members or caregivers who are directly impacted by the effects of a health condition of a loved one.
Psychology for Caregivers
A physical health or neurological condition not only affects the individual; ripple effects are experienced by everyone surrounding them. For the family, there may be new demands and stressors or a change in roles or support networks. This can be overwhelming.
Families may be faced with drastic changes, not of their choosing. Undertaking a care giving role, negotiating with health and social care systems, and trying to maintain some sense of 'normality' can be exhausting. Health and illness does not impact people equally; we offer bespoke interventions to promote healthy coping and reduce the suffering that can come with adjusting to a new reality.
At Cogniful Psychology we offer a service that acknowledges the struggles of families and care givers in their own right. They can be supported to address their concerns, fears and distress. from a compassionate Clinical Psychologist with a many years experience walking this path with other families.
How can we help?
- Guidance on 'how to help' provide effective support, tailored to the unique circumstances of the situation.
- Intervention to support changes to relationships (emotional, practical, sexual or in responsibilities and roles held).
- Psychological therapy to address the emotional impact and strain of being a caregiver, including depression, anxiety and burn out.
- An open space to deal with the 'taboo' emotions without judgement: resentment, jealously, blame or repulsion.
- Processing the feelings of loss experienced for how the person and life used to be or might have been. Offering therapy to develop a life that can be fulfilling even in face of difficulty.
